Open house

Thursday night was Open House at the kids' school. It is always so fun to go and see what the kids have been up to in their classrooms and get pictures of them with their teachers! Audrey next to the beginnings of her mission. Audrey and her wonderful teacher, Ms. Rayburn. Audrey has had the privilege of knowing Ms. Rayburn for many years already since she directs the yearly school musical (of which Audrey has been a part since 1st grade). Audrey has really enjoyed having her for a fourth grade teacher, and has learned lots! She continues to be at the top of her class, both in reading and in math. She loves to write in all forms, letters, short stories, essays, and her handwriting is wonderful! Isaac showing his desk to Uncle Aaron. Isaac showing Levi the tadpoles. Isaac's class has been studying life cycles and insects. They have silk worms, caterpillars (which turned into butterflies and were released on Friday), and also tadpoles in their class. In the reading tub! Isaac and his teacher, Mrs. Singley. She has been a wonderful teacher for Isaac! A mother of 2 boys herself, she is so patient with Isaac, understanding his need to be challenged (as his brain seems to be as restless as his body most days). She has truly been an answer to prayer! Randy and I had a difficult time deciding whether or not to send Isaac to a GATE school for 2nd grade. God closed all the doors for that opportunity and we graciously accepted the fact that God must want Isaac at our neighborhood school at least one more year. I think Mrs. Singley was one HUGE reason why God wanted Isaac to stay here. His reading has improved leaps and bounds! He loves to go to school and loves his teacher! He takes his discipline in stride, and is learning respect and self-control along the way.

We thank God for such a wonderful school in our neighborhood, and such wonderful teachers for our children!
