Memorial Day Weekend

We didn't let the drizzle stop us this weekend. Friday night we had some friends over for a BBQ and let the kids stay up until 10 o'clock! It was great because they slept in until 8:30 the next morning! We ate some breakfast, dressed, and headed out the door to Grandma Arlene's. She watched Violet for a couple hours while Randy and I took Audrey and Isaac golfing. Isaac has gone out with Randy a couple times, but Audrey hasn't done much more than swing a little bit in the front yard. It took a little longer than we thought, but it was a fun time overall. Audrey made it through 2 holes before she got bored and just started enjoying the flowers and the birds (this particular course is located in the middle of a nature preserve). Isaac out drove me off the first tee, and managed to make it on the green in 5 at hole 5 (a par 4). He also plunked a rabbbit on hole 4 (which he thought was hilarious). Randy never managed to get in a groove because of the kids, but had some good drives and also drilled a gopher on hole 5. I haven't been out golfing since before Violet was born, but had a fun time out with Randy and the kids and realized I miss getting out and swinging some clubs. That afternoon Randy and his brother helped his mom fix a fence in her backyard (gotta do some type of yard project on Memorial Day weekend, right?).

Sunday night we enjoyed our annual block BBQ. Nine families for our street came out for the potluck as well as some friends from the neighborhood (another four families). We BBQed chicken and ribs, had plenty of other great food and drink, as well as smores around the firepit to end the evening. Although the drizzle kept us from taking the camera out to the golf course or the block party, we did get it out yesterday as we relaxed around the house and in the yard. The tooth fairy was delayed by the rain, but did show up Sunday night, kindly leaving a dollar and a pretty card apologizing for her delay. Violet in the yard.
