This weekend we celebrated Jamie's 30th birthday. Her weekend fun started on Friday, at 4:30 p.m., when she was surprised by her best friend, Christa Wiens, ringing her doorbell. Christa (who is 35 weeks pregnant) got the OK from her doctor and drove the 12 hours down from Portland with her husband, Aaron, to come to Jamie's birthday party on Saturday night. Boy was Jamie surprised! While Aaron and Christa spent some time with their family in town, we finished up some last minute chores around the house to get ready for the party. Saturday night we had about 30 people over for Jamie's birthday fiesta, complete with dinner from Sal's restaurant, Jarritos sodas on ice, salsa music (and some other fun songs) to dance to, and a tres leches cake that Jamie and Christa made that afternoon. We had a great evening! Sunday night we did it all over again with the kids. They had spent Saturday night with Grandma and felt like they missed out on all the fun, so tonight we had leftovers and danced in the living room to the "party mix" Jamie had put together for the night before. It was a great weekend...thank you to everyone who came over to help us celebrate (and to her friends and family that sent gifts and cards)...she was very thankful and felt really blessed.

Grandma Janice cried happy tears that Christa and Aaron could be there for Jamie's birthday! Audrey looked very"Espana" in her little dancing skirt. We ache a little when we miss those parties but are grateful for the blessing of friends in our kid's lives!
