That evening we were able to celebrate at a special dinner for Randy's work! This week Randy completed 15 years of service at Children's Hospital Central CA! Hooray Randy! He loves working there and feels so honored and blessed to be a part of the work of CHCC, helping children and families throughout the Central Valley. We are so proud of him! It was a fun night to be able to celebrate Randy and many of his co-workers that completed 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and even 40 years of service with CHCC!
Friday, the 7th, I went with our church's Mommy Group. I sent the girls to school for a while and then picked them up for their "education day" at the Fair! My parents drove into town the night before so they could join me with the girls at the Fair on Friday. My mom had a great time helping out with all the little ones, whether pointing out huge pumpkins, furry sheep, or putting quarters in the Footsie Wootsie for them (which was definitely a highlight)! We had a great time meandering through the exhibits. Audrey and Violet bought a geode that got cut in two to show off its fun crystals inside. We ate cinnamon rolls, of course! And saw lots of animals! It was a great day! Randy visited the Fair on Monday with a group of patients for Disability Awareness Day (sorry, no pictures, HIPAA).
The day only got better as our good friends Aaron and Christa Wiens welcomed their son into the world! Since my parents were with us for the day, Randy and I were able to go visit in the evening without having to work out babysitting, what a blessing! We are so thankful that we got to hold this little guy, not just that night but a couple more times since then.
Saturday morning my parents joined us to watch Isaac play soccer before heading back home. Isaac is doing a great job playing goalie this year! He is fearless when it comes to diving for the ball or getting hurt by a kick to the stomach or leg. Unfortunately, you can only stop so many goal attempts before some get through. And when your offense doesn't score, it means losing games. After playing on a winning team last year (7-1 record), stomaching their 0-1-3 record so far has been hard. But, in my opinion, it's good for these boys (most of whom played together last year). They are the youngest team in the league and have 2 more years to work together and build their skills. And in the long run, losing some games will make them more gracious winners. I'll post pictures soon.
Another fun thing we did recently was an evening out to see Audra McDonald, just Randy and I. Randy and I had the opportunity to see her in concert with the Salt Lake Symphony Orchestra during the 2002 Olympics and were so excited to have her come to Fresno, which is actually her hometown! She performed in the historic Warnor's Theater, which I had never been in. It is a beautiful, old building that has a good view from every seat! It was a wonderful concert, almost two and a half hours. Audra sang broadway songs, both old and new, and even let us sing along once or twice!
With the school year in full swing, Isaac in the middle of soccer, Audrey keeping busy with homework, piano, and now violin (post and pictures coming soon), and Violet adjusting to kindergarten, not to mention our family's church activities, booster club, back-to-school nights, field trips, etc...it was such a blessing to get time with just Randy and I not just once, but twice in this past two weeks!

Phew- seriously, your schedule is certainly packed! I got tired reading about everything you've been up to... SO GLAD that despite it being really busy, it was a "fun busy" and that you were able to squeeze in some alone time with Randy.
