So what did we do all week with the highs in Fresno close to 110 degrees all week? A whole bunch of nothin'. I would go out in the morning with the kids, all sunscreened up, and run through sprinklers or get in the kiddie pool while watering the plants and vegetables...then go inside for the rest of the day. We did have some excitement indoors though...Violet did a little army crawl with one arm on Monday and hasn't stopped trying to improve on that since.

As you can see from the photo, she's pushing up and learning to get around pretty well. And what did we do tonight? With the high today reaching 113...a record for Fresno in July, not hit since 1931. We had an outdoor BBQ with four other families on our block. We at least waited until 6:30 to even start, it was down to about 100 by then. It was overcast, so we didn't need to worry about setting up shade. We had a kiddie pool in the yard, freshly filled with COLD hose water and LOTS of water bottles on ice, so we did pretty well.

It was a lot of fun! I even got in my swimsuit and sat in the kiddie pool twice to let the kids splash me and cool down. It worked great! Well, supposedly, Fresno will be back in the double digits by next weekend, but we'll see. Hope everyone had a safe, cool weekend.
