Aebelskivers and swim lessons

Here's Violet and I making aebelskivers for dinner. Aebelskivers are like pancakes, in a ball. I remember taking trips with my mom and grandma to The Dala Horse restaurant in Kingsburg for aebelskivers...and I just thought it was so fun, and so yummy, to eat all the pancake balls with jam and powdered sugar. Now I make them with my kids (it took a while to find an aebelskiver pan). And since Violet doesn't get to do all the "big kid" things that Audrey and Isaac do (book lists at the library or swim lessons) I let her be my "helper" as often as possible.

And, speaking of swim lessons, I added a slide show with some pictures from the pool! At the beginning of the summer I signed the kids up for 6 weeks of swim lessons at the pool across the street from our house. They didn't make it every night (probably two thirds), but considering these lessons cost about one fifth of their previous lessons (granted, we lost a little in teaching skills, in my opinion), it was well worth the investment. Audrey started as a goldfish, was moved up to a shark the second day, and then "graduated" to a dolphin for her final two week session. Next year she can be on the swim team! Isaac started out in tadpole, moved up to goldfish after the first two week session, and is "on track" to move up to shark for next summer. We are so glad our kids love the water and are greatly improving in their swimming skills. It's such a great activity to keep them fit and cool in the Fresno heat! This is their final week of lessons, and then a week off from evening activities to get them back into a routine bedtime before school starts!
