Porter vacation, part 3

On Thursday of our week together we made a trip over to the coast.  Seacliff State Beach is a quick 45 minutes away and is much less crowded than the Santa Cruz boardwalk!  We packed a picnic lunch and enjoyed the sun and sand for most of the day!

The boys loved throwing a stick in the ocean and watching it come back...for hours!

Emmy loved the sand!  First trip to the beach!

Baby girl, Violet, looking oh so grown up

And my big girl, Audrey, looking more like a teen every day!

After lunch Randy noticed a particular bird that he'd never seen at the beach before.  He wondered what would lure this particular sea bird so far from its natural habitat.  He then noticed that the water over by the pier was looking really dark.  He walked over to explore and found an huge bait ball of anchovies under the pier!  Crazy!  The park ranger said they'd never had a school of anchovies at that beach before.  There were tons of birds, dolphins, harbor seals and more diving in and through the fish!  It was pretty amazing!  We stood on the pier and watched for quite some time.

A view straight down

Getting tired from all that fun in the sun!

Starting on the hole.

And at the end of the day...Isaac's accomplishment (with a bit of help from Uncle Ben)!

Even though we headed back to San Jose in the afternoon for some rest and some showers, we were in the mood for some good fish n' chips.  After perusing Yelp, we decided to go check out Harbor Fish and Chips.  It was really yummy!  A great way to end the day!

Friday and Saturday were spent lounging around the house, playing games, going to the park and the library again...just being together!  We left to come home Saturday afternoon, thankful for such a wonderful week spent with family!

Building and decorating their space ship from the cardboard box Grandma saved!
