Randy, after completing his marathon, in Oakland on Palm Sunday. So proud of him!!
After Randy's marathon, we headed for a relaxing few days at the beach (the kids had the week off for Spring Break). Here's Violet with her current favorite game, Tsuro.
Every time we're at the beach we love to eat at Phil's Fish Market in Moss Landing...LOVE the cioppino!
Violet and Charlotte up EARLY for sunrise service on Easter morning. Enjoying some paska and amish friendship bread after the service.
Up early again, this time for MCC's Run for Relief. Audrey and her friend did great running the 2 miles together!! Cross-country girls!!
Violet and her teacher, Jan Telanoa, at her Back to School night. Couldn't ask for a better teacher for my little girl!!
Has Randy told you how much he loves his job?!! As part of his job as an inpatient physical therapist at Children's Hospital, when patients are close to being discharged, they take them on "outings" to re-introduce them to some of their daily activities. A few years ago the hospital acquired a large, handicapped-accessible van to do just that (and Randy is now licensed to drive it) in order to do just this. Regular outings include trips to the kids' schools, homes, or public places like the zoo, mall, or even Target! One particular patient a few weeks ago loved to fish with his dad before his accident. The rehab team found a nearby pond that the property owner was happy to let them use! And Randy was ecstatic to spend half his work day helping this patient and doing some fishing of his own! Too bad it was all catch and release...I was ready to drive down there and have a BBQ beside the water!
Last weekend we had our friends, the Co family, over for dinner. Nia, being the independent almost-3-year-old that she is wanted to cut our strawberries for dessert. Violet said she'd help (although from the look of it, Violet ate more than she cut)!
Two weeks ago a friend of mine invited me to join her for some wine tasting at a local winery in Sanger (Cedar View Winery), right off the 180 on your way up to King's Canyon. The owners have been out there 13 years making wines and hosting graduation parties, weddings, evening dinner/dances, etc...as well as running a 3 room bed-and-breakfast. While there, I saw a flyer for an upcoming evening of wine tasting, live music, dancing, and dinner catered by the nearby Schoolhouse Restaurant. Randy and I invited some friends to join us, found a sitter for all 6 of our kids so they could have fun together, and headed to the foothills to enjoy a gorgeous evening under the stars! It was so fun! Apparently they do this 3 or 4 times throughout the year. We will definitely be returning when we can!
