Boy fort!
So Randy's gift to the kids this past Christmas involved gifts that took lots of time. Audrey's was/is her ongoing running. Violet's is still in the works, and Isaac's gift was a fort. Randy finished it last weekend! Here are the pictures from along the way.
So there has always been a big "shelf" above the work bench for storage. It was a perfect size for a fort, 3 feet wide by 6 feet 4 inches long.
Randy started with reinforcing the structure and putting in a ceiling.
Then came the outer walls and some string lighting.
Randy working on the door.
Basically done. We bought a rug that covered most of the floor, and Isaac took a big pillow up there to prop in one corner.
Come have a look inside!
Eyeing his treasures...a medal won this weekend at MCC (post to follow), some Marvel Comic cards lining his shelf, some of his most prized Lego men, etc.
A map of his favorite National Park (Sequoia & King's Canyon, of course), and a small fan in the corner to help air circulate up there (Randy still needs to cut some "vent holes" and even then it will probably be unusable in the summer months). Overall, Isaac is EXTREMELY happy with his fort. He and Randy have already played a couple games of Stratego up there, and he is enjoying reading time up there by himself as well. We hope he will love it for years to come!

That's great! Do they make those for moms who need a break! :)
How cool is that!
