Snow day

For whatever reason, our family has not made it up to the snow much this Winter...only once in January. Two weekends ago, the forecast was clear skies and temperatures in the high 50s! So we made a last minute decision to head up to Kings' Canyon for a snow day. Our friends, the Wiens' family, joined us. Charlotte and Violet had lots of fun in the snow! After snowshoeing back into the trees a ways, we found a good hill and carved out a sled run. Levi found it easiest to climb up this hill on his elbows, belly, and knees! He made it! Violet loves to sled in the snow! Hearing her laugh as she goes down the hill makes the whole trip worthwhile! Audrey relaxing, ready for lunch. We also built a snowman, had a picnic lunch, and built "forts" under the pine trees where we launched snowballs at each other! By early afternoon the Wiens' were ready to head down the hill. We'd brought along our snowshoes hoping to hike a bit before dark but Isaac was complaining of a headache (not normal) so we packed up as well. Bummer...Randy and I have yet to get in a good snow-shoe hike this winter. But a good thing that we left. Isaac was sick with a fever the rest of the weekend and getting home earlier allowed him to get good rest. Maybe the cold weather will stick around long enough for us to head up to the snow once more this season!
