I must say, there's not too much to complain about when it comes to winter in Fresno. It's not so cold that you can't go out. There's enough rain to keep plants watered but not make you feel couped up inside. The fog comes and goes, and is a pain for early morning traffic, but the sun usually peeks out in the afternoon. The thing that seems to ruin our winters? COLDS! Mix those in with Isaac's asthma, and that usually makes for a rough couple weeks somewhere in February. February of 2006 was tough, with Isaac in the ER twice for asthma attacks. February of 2007 was better, with only one ER visit for Isaac. But a surprise ER visit for me a couple weeks later made the medical bills higher than expected again (thank God for insurance...I honestly don't know how people live without it). This February we're rooting for NO E.R. VISITS! This past Tuesday, our family came down with a nasty cold! It kept me in bed for almost 48 hours straight, Randy home from work for three days, and Audrey home from school for 4 days (she still has a horrible sounding cough, but will go back to school tomorrow if she has a good day today). Isaac seemed to get over the cold/cough fairly quick...we feel like we dodged a bullet! He started on an oral steroid on Friday to see if we can maintain his "good lungs" for the remainder of the cold season. So here's hoping for some rain to wash away the particulates in the air, and some sun to warm up our bodies, smiles, and joyful spirits!
P.S. Thank you so much for those of you that have called to check up on us! And for the Wiens and Alaniz families that brought us meals! We really appreciated it!
