So, I'd like to say "use public transportation" for my weekly idea (read prior, San Diego post)...but I don't think many of you would do that here in Fresno, at least. So I will give you an idea that you DEFINITELY can do! Bring your own bags to the grocery store! I have done this for quite a while now, and sometimes get wierd looks or comments...but I chalk it up to educating others through my actions! I have four cloth bags I keep in the trunk of my van, so they're ready each time I'm at the store...no paper or plastic needed! Thanks, Jane, for the prompting!

A journalist from the Fresno Bee wrote a feature article on alternative transportation to get to work besides his own car. He did a different mode each day for one week. The bus took two hours to get to work from home (14 miles away). It was faster for him to walk home from work than to take the bus (as he timed it each day). The fastest was either the carpooling or riding his bike. But the bike was rather dangerous without the bike lanes all the way. Thanks Fresno!
The bring your own bag idea rocks! Costco has some way cool bags that they sell...2 for $1.97. I got one in every color! Oh wait, there's only one color...green, but I guess that ties in with the 'shop green' idea, right?
