Happy Easter

We had a nice, relaxing Easter. Everyone was healthy this year, so we got to attend church in the morning. After church, we headed to Randy's mom's house for an amazing lunch and an afternoon of egg hunting, relaxing and playing with the kiddos. Our friend, Luke, also joined us for the day. He is going to college in town, but his family is in Kansas, so we got to enjoy his company for the day. The kids absolutely love having him around (they see him most Sunday nights for college dinners), and it was funny to see them "fight" over who got to sit next to Luke at lunch, hold Luke's hand on the way to the park, etc. We hung out until the kids were exhausted (about 9 p.m.) and then packed up for home. It's been a good "vacation" week, but I am definitely ready for Audrey to return to school tomorrow and go back to our schedule. Hope everyone else had a great Easter! Here's some of the best pictures from the day. Audrey showing Great-Grandma Lena something from her Easter basket. Isaac and Violet finding eggs. Audrey's found a bunch too! Uncle Kevin helped Violet reach some of the eggs on the fence. Randy guiding the kids through the Easter story with the numbered eggs. Audrey and Luke building with Tinkertoys. Violet reading to Luke and Audrey as they build. And, Uncle Kevin introduced Isaac to SuperSmash Brothers on the Wii.

Hair Cuts & Easter Eggs

This past week has been quite trying for Randy and I as parents (as some of you have already heard). But I am moving on, focusing on the positive. So I will not tell you the "junk" from the week, but rather the good. First off, I was hoping to have the kids' hair cut for Easter Sunday...but after all I'd dealt with the first three days of the week, I couldn't imagine myself having enough patience to sit for 30 minutes with each kid for a hair cut, and then still find stray, long hairs that I missed or cut wrong for the next few days. So I broke down and took Audrey and Isaac to a salon for the first time this past Thursday. They both did very well! Audrey just got a trim; Isaac got the full deal! During... ...and after! Look at those cool spikes! I also got my hair cut this past Wednesday...I cut 13 inches off to donate to Locks of Love! This is me...up too early, my fingers too cold to play well...but still, the best picture of my new haircut that I have. I'm out in the park, getting ready to play for our church's 5th Annual Easter Eggstravaganza that we do in the neighborhood park. We've gone every year, and the kids love it. There are games, crafts, a drama and song time (hence, the guitar), an egg hunt, and lunch. Here are some of the best pictures from the morning. Audrey is such a great smiler! Isaac's ready for game-time! And ready to color! Audrey's lined up for games behind her friend, Kharma. Violet found an egg! What a fun morning!

Monster Truck Jam

This past Saturday, Randy took Isaac to see Monster Truck Jam at Selland Arena. Isaac and Randy went last March for the first time and Isaac just loved it (but he forgot to take the camera so we didn't get photos)! They went again this year...and had just as much fun! This year they also had motorcross riders too! So between truck smashing, jumping, and racing, they had guys on motorcycles flying through the air doin' crazy stunts. I had a fun night with the girls, eating pizza, cake, and watching a movie at home! Brett and Mitchell John and Tyler Isaac's enjoying himself. These guys are crazy!

My new favorite show

I know this is a post unlike my usual blogging, but the show last night was too good to not mention. My new favorite TV show is called Eli Stone, and is on Thursday nights at 10 p.m. on ABC. It premiered a couple weeks ago and I have tuned in to the last few. It's a show about a lawyer, Eli, who discovers he has a brain aneurism. As a side effect, according to his doctor, his normal days get interrupted by abnormal visions...people singing and dancing, rain falling only on him, a dragon chasing him through the street, etc. Eli, however, is beginning to believe that these visions are not from his aneurism, but rather signs or messages from God, revealing to Eli the things He wants him to do. It is a very creative and well written show. If you're curious, next week's preview looked really interesting. Tune in Thursday, March 20, on ABC at 10/9 central.

Violet Update

Since my last few posts have been about Audrey, and a short one about Isaac, I thought I'd update you on what Violet's been doing. Violet is turning into quite the goofball. She is really fun and good-natured, and full of energy like her big brother. She thinks she doesn't need naps anymore, but Mommy knows better than to let that happen. She is talking up a storm but rarely speaking clearly.
Some of my favorites are "Wot a moody (watch a movie)?" which she asks when we turn on the TV.
"Walking?" she asks in a high pitched voice anytime we ask her to find her shoes. And no matter what we answer back, her next question is "Diving (driving)?" to see whether we're taking the car wherever we're going. Here's Violet playing in the backyard with Isaac, which she pronounces "See See", and one of her favorite friends, C.J., which she pronounces "Day Day". Audrey never has an R in it when Violet says it, and no matter what grandparent Violet is talking to or about, it's always pronounced, "Gampa". Here is Violet feeding the geese at Woodward Park. Last Thursday we went out to the park with our mom's group...the weather has been so wonderful, sunny and about 70 degrees the last couple days! Violet wasn't afraid of the geese at all, and enjoyed throwing them a couple Kix, and then slyly putting a couple in her own mouth.

Good for a chuckle
